Competencies

We understand competencies as more than technical ability or familiarity with a particular type of knowledge. For example embodied, cognitive, social and emotional attributes deployed by designers in the production of their work are also important. A view of design from this perspective  emphasises competencies beyond traditional studio design skills and includes the environments and relationships featured in a particular context and the motivations and perceptions an individual or a design team may bring to their work.
