Constance’s goal is to become an experience designer who specializes in research and strategy. She is currently interested in exploring how technology shapes human behaviour and the design of spaces. Constance studied Marketing and Design at Lancaster University, but learning about consumer behaviour, brand strategy and experiential marketing helped her realize that she was more interested in designing experiences rather than marketing them. Born in Macau, Asia’s Las Vegas, she loves eating desserts, reading, and listening to K-Pop. She’s known for being a foodie and is a strong advocate for raising the MA UX snack budget.

THE UX OF MAKEUP AND IDENTITY

This is a research project that explores how makeup impacts a sense of belonging amongst Chinese and Korean women living in the UK. The findings and research film tell a story about the influence of culture on makeup attitudes, the exaggerated sense of belonging as an Asian in the UK, and consequently its impact on makeup style. Furthermore, cultural identity is always changing and constructed through difference. Beyond the beauty and cosmetics industry, the implications present wider opportunities in designing for ways to present the self and for experiences within intercultural contexts.
