Yirui Fu is currently a postgraduate user experience design student at London college of communication and an alumni in digital media. Yirui Fu is a designer, researcher and developer. Her previous study in Canada builds on a variety of interests and skills in the field of digital media and installation arts, especially human-computer interactive works. With her passion in exploring the possibility and relationship within people, society and technology, she is continuously developing her own design process through her master, where her studies leads her to advanced herself in research, prototyping, ideation and creation through both micro and macro levels of design.

By struggling with various psychological difficulties such as a sense of not belongings, loneliness, feeling lost and homesick, Chinese international students are facing a serious social challenge. Our research led to a discovery that food is an efficient vehicle to meet their needs. This exploration of food as a way to build social connections for Chinese international students resulted in the design of our social application.
By using food and food-related activities to match and gather people, students gain more opportunities to expand their social networks both online and offline. As students using our platform search, chat and participate in food-related activities we hope that they will be able to build more efficient and meaningful friendships in the UK.
