Honorary Certificate for Mother of Only Daughter
China's one-child policy has once "blended into the background of life in China." while the changes in societal norms caused by China's one-child policy have affected two generations of Chinese women.
This project proposes a way for mothers and urban singleton daughters to share memories of the one-child policy and discuss its impacts on themselves. It also tries to raise the awareness of young generations about the consequences of the one-child policy by revealing the sufferings and pains caused by the policy. The design outcome provides the daughter and mother with topics and information related to the policy and materials for customizing the certificate. The certificate making activity aims to provoke in-depth conversations between the two generations and provide interactive ways of expressing love to each other.
