XTASY

How much can we hide from porn that the fantasy is still there, but it’s not too revealing, leaving more space for imagination? XTASY is a commentary installation on the state of pornography, bouncing between what’s real, what’s hyper and what’s just an illusion. There is a paradox about porn that pornography is condemned for both: its absolute explicitness and arousing uncontrollable fantasies. So, can one be done without the other? This project takes the explicitness of porn and reverses it to innuendos. Instead of stimulating the brain in one way alone through a sheer depiction of a sexual act, XTASY plays on liberating our imagination, allowing to dive deeper into what we want to explore and to design the scenes and situations that turn us on. What is visible in porn is not a reality but a simulation of it seamlessly blended in the realm, and the installation plays between crossing those boundaries. What can you see? Is it real? Is what you hear, what you think it is? Or is it just a representation of it? How much can you be making up? It might just be your fantasy.   Please note: the following images contain explicit material, please view at your own discretion.
