Beyond the Truth

In the post-truth era, emotion outweighs facts, perception outweighs truth, and bias outweighs objectivity. We want to let people rethink what the truth is in this post-truth era. Based on Nietzsche's perspectivism that "there is no truth, only interpretation" and our research, we address some characteristics of post-truth circumstances: the multifaceted nature of truth, the fragmentation of information, the emotionality of reporting, and the bias of individuals. We design an experience allowing people to feel these qualities and gain insights while playing. With Rubik's cube as the main design language, we design three types of playable cubes that reflect the post-truth qualities. The "Words Cube" reflects the multifaceted nature of truth and the recombination of information behind it. The "Image Cube" reflects the fragmentation of information and the emotional nature of reporting. The "Recombination Cube" about Xinjiang reflects individual cognitive biases.
