GATEKEEPING USERS

This project will seek to frame content moderation as fundamentally a UX problem, because the appropriateness of content influences our experiences. Background research gives an overview of the history of content moderation, as well as the associated difficulties and human costs. As content quantity keeps scaling immensely, the problem will worsen. The research also reviews different models of content regulation and their effectiveness. For example, looking at automation, human moderators, and hybrid forms of moderation. The design is an interface demo that aims to shed light on the work of content moderators, getting regular users to try it out for themselves, making hard decisions, split- second judgements and reviewing edge cases.
