I HOPE YOU WERE HERE

The advancements in technology have eliminated time and distance as an obstacle to communication between individuals. Long-distance romantic relationships (LDRRs) in particular, seem to be easier to maintain than ever before. But can technology really make up for everything? For some, the lack of physical contact is considered a great challenge to deal with. Surprisingly, a majority of studies have found equal or even higher levels of satisfaction and trust in LDRRs compared to geographically close ones. This project explores how young adults perceive their LDRRs, how they interact with their partners, and what impact different methods of communication have on their feelings and attitudes toward the relationship. To best showcase the findings, an interactive website is presented. It contains eight games that represent the challenges and benefits of being in a LDRR. The project aims to improve the understanding of LDRRs, and to encourage reflection in people involved in a LDRR.
