Connected Sustainability

The final major project investigated the opportunities for interaction between people from the village (Ani hila) practicing sustainability as a way of life with people from domestic urban spaces (district Meerut). The objective was to bring learning from the village and apply that to domestic urban spaces in order to generate sustainability awareness by connecting people. The aim of the research was to stimulate sustainable thinking, learning and inspire people to switch to an environment-friendly way of living and in the process connect with the environment in order to instigate a paradigm shift among communities regarding the urgent need for sustainability. The research demonstrated when people jointly engage in activities that leverage the psychological factors such as social influence, habit formation, self reflection, feelings, cognition and tangibility they have potential to generate greater awareness that can ultimately lead to transformative actions. The design outcome incorporates a workshop, virtual tour of Ani Hila and discussion forum. The three design outcomes were supported by the medium of an online platform. They were designed as a catalyst for stimulating shift to circularity by making people connect, rethink, discuss, experience and learn in order to achieve integrated sustainability goals.
